Senegal to host 2021 Beach Soccer AFCON

The Confederation of African Football (CAF), have announced that the 2021 Beach Soccer Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) will be held in Dakar, Senegal.

This comes following an executive meeting held on 10th September 2020 and will see the finalists of the competition represent the continent at the 2021 FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup to be held in Russia.

Senegal are the most successful nation when it comes to the Beach Soccer AFCON, winning the competition a record 5 times, the most recent coming in 2019 after defeating Nigeria 6-1 in final.

The Ghana senior national beach soccer team, the Black Sharks, have failed to qualify for the World Cup for the last 3 editions (2019, 2017, 2015) since making their maiden international outing back in 2013.

Meanwhile, Ghana beach soccer is expected to return before the end of the year as clubs continue the process of registration onto the Ghana Football Association (GFA) digital club licensing system.
