Stop paying needles minister’s; the expenditure is too much – Murtala Mohammed


Former Member of Parliament of Nanton Constituency Murtala Muhammed has described the expenditure of the NPP government so far as needless.

Speaking in an interview on Wednesday morning 22nd July 2020, he stated that some cabinet minister’s ruling government has currently is needless.

He made this statement while speaking on the sidelines of the mid-year budget review to be delivered tomorrow in parliament by the Finance Minister, Ken Ofori Atta.

“The measures put in place by government amidst the COVID-19 like the stimulus package even though is a good call help not help in any way as long as the thievery that goes on in this country is stopped, as long as the thievery that goes on in NABCO stops, as long as the number of ministers is reduced because if you are mobilizing revenue and that revenue is shrinking, yet expenditure increase you cannot juxtapose the expenditure of this government, without talking about the whopping amount of money that being used to pay some of these needless minister’s who are appointed,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Head of Communications at the Energy Ministry Nana Damoah disagrees and has stated that the former MP is embarking on needless propaganda.

“I think that my brother is embarking on needless propaganda, what the good people of Ghana are concerned about and what they have come to understand this government does, is that it is a listening government, that is extremely sensitive to the needs of the people,  as I have demonstrated this morning, we are going about our acts creating jobs for the people of Ghana, giving social protection and ensuring that, the standards are in, it instructive to know that, even in a pandemic like COVID-19, we have a government that has come up with appreciable measures such that, very well and established companies, the automobile companies are coming to Ghana in such a time as COVID-19 to do business” he stated.
