Tears flow as Mfantseman MP shot dead

News reaching Talksafrica.com indicates that,the Member of Parliament for the Mfantseman Constituency, Ekow Quansah Hayford,in the Central Region has been shot dead by some unknown gunmen.

According to an eyewitness Mr frank Asiedu who is the  Municipal NABCO coordinator, the MP was shot on the Abeadze Dominase–Abeadze Duadzi–Mankessim Road after returning from a campaign trip.

“When the robbers started engaging the Member of Parliament then he [robber] said, ‘You politicians have made us uncomfortable in this country.’ “We were asked to come out of the the car and asked us to lie prostrate so we thought they were going to shoot us. One stated that we are not after your life…so they asked the driver why he didn’t stop when he was asked to…,” he said.

“A car from Mankessim was approaching so the attention of the robbers were shifted from us to the passengers car from mankessim then i maneuvered my way through to the bush,i heard gun shot all over.after sometime i came out from the bush to realize that the MP was dead” he added

Report coming in also indicates that the driver of the MP has also passed on.

The police has begun investigations into the sad incident.

The body of the Member of Parliament has been deposited at the Saltpond Mortuary.
