Ludogorets Razgrad forward Bernard Tekpetey has revealed his delight following his side’s 3-0 victory over rivals Slavia Sofia over the weekend.
The Ghanaian international made his second appearance for the club coming on in the 60th minute, after replacing Bulgarian midfielder Dominik Yankov with the side 1-0 up.
Nusciano Gusmao opened the scoring at the stroke of half time before Mavis Tchibota added the second in the 73rd minute. Cosmin Moti made it three from the spot six minutes later to seal the champions’ first win of the campaign.
Tekpetey joined Bulgarian champions Ludogorets Razgrad earlier this month on a season-long loan from Bundesliga side Schalke 04 following an unsuccessful loan stint at with relegated Bundesliga side Fortuna Düsseldorf which saw the Ghanaian make only 10 appearances in all competitions for the Rheinländer.
The 22-year-old initially joined Düsseldorf on a two-season long loan last summer but left the Merkur Spiel Arena outfit after only a season to join Ludogorets.
“Everything I’ve heard about Ludogorets so far made me choose this club. They play good football and they are always part of the Champions League and Europa League, too. This is important for every player who wants to develop his career,” said Tekpetey at his unveiling.
“It is different compared to the Bundesliga but my first impression is that training is on a high level here. The coach wants us to create more attacks. I was happy to see the players so motivated to play for the win. I am also glad to be part of a club with such ambition. I need to work hard and that is the most important thing. This way, I will reach my goals,” he added.
