Kumawood actress, Mariam Akyere Donkoh also known as Akyere Bruwaa has revealed that the Kumawood has been down since the introduction of telenovelas to Ghanaians.
In an interview on the “Delay Show”, the actress made some revealations that aside twi speaking telenovelas, she believes some actresses and actors are a reason why the industry is down, adding claims that some Kumawood stars say negative things about the industry on radio and other platforms they find themselves
According to the actress, she hardly gets a call to come and cast a movie unlike before where she could receive contracts consistently but now, it could take years or more before she gets a call to cast a movie or a show.
Adding to this, she disclosed that she had learnt some basic catering from her mom and is now surviving on the bread and pastries she bakes
However, Akyere confessed that there is so much money in the industry which has helped her in diverse ways as she can drive whatever car she wants.
Akyere Bruwaa is a Kumawood actress who started her acting career in the 90’s with the popular concert party performers when a friend introduced her into the trade. She then graduated to the film industry in the early 2000s when the Kumawood film industry began developing. She has been acting since then. Her movie “Ataa wura” made her popular to many Ghanaians
