Yaya Touré out of Soccer Aid match following inappropriate joke

Former Manchester City star, Yaya Touré, has quit this weekend’s Soccer Aid match following an “inappropriate joke” he shared in WhatsApp a group chat with his team-mates.

According to reports, the Ivorian midfielder who is married with three children is said to have bragged that he could bring 19 girls to the team hotel in Cheshire and posting a pornographic video into a team Whatsapp group which led to a number of complaints.

A spokesman for Soccer Aid told The Sun: “Inappropriate content was shared in a private group text. The message was quickly deleted and a full apology was made to all.”

Following the incident, Independent Television (ITV) took the decision to axe him from the show “Soccer Aid for UNICEF has discussed the above with the individual involved and he has decided to no longer continue to participate in this year’s event.” The spokesman of Soccer Aid further stated

Touré took to Twitter to apologise saying he is a “grown man who should not be engaged in such jokes” and he regretted the negative publicity which had deflected from the fundraising game for UNICEF.
