Two Electoral Commission Officers have been relieved of their posts for allegedly illegally registering residents of a community in Tamale.
It was alleged that they were caught in the course of illegally registering the people.
In a release issued on July 18, 2020, noted that the misconduct of the two registration officers who were alleged to have been caught in the course of illegally registering residents should be made to face the full rigorous of the law.
It said the Commission will not shield their staff who engages in acts that will find them on the wrong side of the law.
“The Commission wishes to assure the general public that it will not shield any of its staff, temporary or permanent, who find themselves on the wrong side of the law.
“The Commission is currently working with the security agencies to ensure that the suspects are made to face the full rigorous of the law”, it added.
The commission therefore advises the general public and individuals to expose acts and wrongdoings which undermine the integrity of the 2020 Voters Registration exercise.
Meanwhile, the registration kit used for the alleged illegal registration remains in police custody.
