Ho, the Volta Regional Capital has experienced the heaviest rainfall in recent times.
The heavy rain which lasted for about four hours caused havoc, something that is seldom seen in Ho.
Accompanied by strong wind and thunder, the rain started at about 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM flooded several parts of the city.
Ho is noted for its favorable topography, such that the place does not easily get flooded during rainfall.
However, this time round some vehicles that attempted to wade through the flooding waters were washed away.
It took the braveness of some residents of Have, a suburb of Ho, to rescue passengers who were trapped in one of the vehicles.
Fortunately, no casualties were recorded even though some physical properties such as the Trafalgar Bridge, close to the Ho Teaching Hospital have been destroyed.
A resident, Charles Doku said it was a heavy rainfall that even broke a fence wall in his community. He said that the rains which flooded the area nearly filled up his porch as he was afraid it may enter his room and destroy property.
Godwin Agboka who was among those who rescued the people in a floating vehicle said “that the rains were very heavy that, Ho has not experienced this in a very long time”.
He said that many others have had to run for their lives since the rains have settled and made way into their homes, and therefore called on the assembly to fix the broken bridge before the next rainfall.
Ho has expressed heavy rainfalls this year as compared to previous years; and there are fears that the heaviest rains are yet to come.
