The opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Ayawaso West Wuogon constituency has accused the incumbent Member of Parliament in the ticket of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) Lydia Alhassan of busing in outsiders from other places to register to vote in the constituency.
According to NDC, this as an attempt by the incumbent MP, Lydia Alhassan of the NPP, to manipulate the polls against his main opponent John Dumelo of the NDC, who will be contesting for the first time at that level.
In an interview with Citinews monitored by Talksafrica.com’s political desk, the NDC Constituency Chairman in Ayawaso West Wuogon, Bismark Aryeetey, Lydia Alhasan, has expressed dissatisfaction at the action of the MP, he said what Lydia Alhassan is doing is something that is inimical to the constitution.
He alleged that people were being brought in from adjoining constituencies as well as other parts of Accra, the Eastern Region, and the Volta Region.
“[On Tuesday] we had intel that two sprinter buses were coming from Nsawam so we had the car number and our people laid ambush behind Dzorwulu JHS,” he added.
He further stressed that she is disrespecting the people in our communities
