The New Patriotic Party’s Volta Regional Chairman, Makafui Kofi Woanyah has called out the National Democratic Congress party for casted gloom and threatening mayhem amongst the public.
Chairman Woanyah said many political observers were not surprised about the U-Turn of the NDC “because the party is inconsistent and an unpredictable group of people”.
This was in a statement signed by Chairman Woanyah on the Voter’s Registration Exercise.
On the current registration exercise, the statement said the registration was peaceful, orderly and was without ugly incidents except for some isolated cases.
According to him, when the NDC realised that they were going to lose face and fall on their own dagger, having lost their Court cases and feared ridicule, they made a big U-Turn but not without making noise and crying wolf on rooftops where there’s no
wolf and keep bastardizing the Electoral Commission as part of their old
“We think the real challenge faced by the electoral Commission so far has been the NDC than any operational, logistics or COVID-19 pandemic”.
The statement said there had been 43 known unapproved routes before the registration exercise began, adding that 107 new routes were added in the Ketu South municipality.
It said the propaganda mobilization and deliberate bussing of foreign Nationals across the Ghana Togo border through the creation of new 107 unapproved routes amounted to a total of 132,428 registered people in the municipality.
The statement said the large number of unapproved routes made it difficult for immigration officers and other security services to monitor or control.
The statement further said Ketu South had 208 polling stations and registered voters stood at 149,219 in 2019, adding that, currently the municipality has 254 polling stations.
The municipality recorded 17,399, in the phase one; 15,817 in phase two; 27, 694 for phase three, 25,458 in the phase four, and 33,662, and 12, 217 in phase five and six respectively.
The statement said but for a new register, a limited voters registration would have added to the existing 149,219.
The party have thus applauded the Electoral Commission for its resolute stance and fortitude and flexibility in the face of NDC propaganda.
