Former Deputy Minister for Education, Hon Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa has said that the National Democratic Congress will confront stereotypes and discrimination against Mahama’s running mate.
He said that the NDC will not tolerate any attempt to undermine the choice of Prof. Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang due to gender.
He said these on the Point Blank segment on Eyewitness News with Umaru Sanda on Citi Fm.
This comes after Prof. Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang was picked as running mate for Flagbearer of the NDC, John Dramani Mahama.
Samuel Okudzeto who is Member of Parliament for North Tongu noted that the ruling party ridiculed the Flagbearer over his choice of running mate ahead of December polls.
He reiterated that the running mate should be judged based on her ability to deliver and nothing else.
“Some of us will boldly confront these stereotypes and discrimination against women. They constitute 51 percent of our population and so they must be heard.
“If this is a true democracy in the sense of the word, it ought to be inclusive and participatory by giving women their fair share”, he said.
Meanwhile, at a press conference held by the Communications Director of the NPP, Yaw Buabeng Asamoa, doubts the credibility of Prof. Naana Opoku-Agyemang adding that “it is a clear indication that Mahama does not take the Ghanaian electorate seriously”.
