After the president’s directive to pave way for final year students to go back to school, a total of fourteen (14) educational institutions in the Western Region have recorded cases of the Covid-19. These institutions include, two (2) tertiary institutions and twelve (12) senior high schools.
These cases are recorded in six districts of the region. Nzema East is the worst hit having 26 cases. The Shama District, Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolis, and Amenfi West Municipality have recorded 19, 17, and 6 cases of COVID-19 infections respectively. The two others are the Prestea Huni Valley and Tarkwa Nsuaem Districts having recorded 5 and 2 cases respectively.
Nsein Senior High School is with the highest recorded case having 26, Shama SHS 19 cases, and Adiembra SHS with 6 cases.
The Western Region Director for Health Service, Naa Dr. Jacob Mahama at a press briefing yesterday on the theme; “Continuing Quality Health Service Delivery Amid COVID-19 Pandemic Challenges” , disclosed that the service will continue to monitor and manage cases of the viral infection in these schools to avert a widespread on campus.
