Former World Heavyweight Champion, Wladimir Klitschko has added his voice to the current discourse on racism speaking out against the act yesterday in a Twitter post.
Klitschko whose last bout came against two-time unified heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua stating that sport is multi-national and one should respect their opponent regardless of their race.
“Sport is multinational, and especially in combat sports there is respect and appreciation for your opponent no matter they are or where they come from.”
“All of us are the same race, we are the human race, we have real worries like pandemics, climate change and different life struggles and who knows what.” He further stated.
The Ukrainian powerhouse also known as ‘Dr Steelhammer’ spoke about his meeting with boxing legend Muhammad Ali and recounted his fight with Ernie Terrell.
“I had the incredible opportunity to meet Muhammad Ali and I will never forget what he said to Ernie Terrell during his fight because Ernie wouldn’t say his name. Now we should speak out for the innocent and for the folks whose voices can’t be heard.”
