Egyptian Premier League (EPL) giants Zamalek edged out opponents Tanta 2-1 in the club’s third friendly as they prepare for the return of the league on 6th August 2020.
The Whites took more than 60 minutes to open the scoring through a powerful header from youngster Hossam Ashraf following a precise cross from Mostafa Fathi.
Tanta would, however, level the score ten minutes later in a similar fashion when Mohamed El-Ashry found the back of the net with a header from inside the penalty area.
Zamalek continued their dominance throughout the remainder of the second half and managed to score the winner in the 82nd-minute following a lapse of concentration by the Tanta defence which left Zamalek’s Mostafa Fathi in a one-on-one situation with the goalkeeper, and the winger didn’t disappoint putting the ball in between the goalie’s legs.
Zamalek will reportedly face Tala’a El-Geish in a friendly encounter at Borg El-Arab before hosting Al Masry on 6th August 2020 in Egyptian Premier League opener at 8:00 am Cairo Time (6:00 am GMT).
